Good deal on Eco 5

I was looking for a food waste solution and found the FoodCycler Eco 5. Waited for a good sale, and caught one around Earth Day for 10% off. That, plus free shipping, made it feel like a solid deal. Setup was simple. It's definitely saving us from throwing out so much food waste. Overall, I think it was worth the money.

Good value for Eco 5

I was looking for a good deal on a food waste recycler. Found the FoodCycler Eco 5 during a holiday sale and got it for $40 off the regular price. It arrived in about 6 days. The machine works as described, turning scraps into soil amendment. Felt like a solid purchase for the price I paid.

Mostly good, some noise

I ordered the FoodCycler Eco 3. The ordering process was smooth, and it arrived in about a week. Setting it up was simple enough. It really does a good job of breaking down food waste, which has cut down our kitchen trash a lot. That's a huge positive. However, it can be a bit noisy when it's running, especially during the grinding phase. It's not a deal-breaker, but I wish it was a little quieter, especially at night. Customer service was fine when I had a question about what could go in it. Good product overall, just expect some operating noise.

FC-30 works as advertised

I bought the FoodCycler FC-30 a few weeks ago and it's been pretty good. Ordering was straightforward on their website, no issues there. It shipped out in about 3 days and arrived at my place in Arizona in another 4 days, so delivery was decent. I had a question about the filter replacement schedule, so I used their online chat. The support agent was helpful and answered my query quickly. The quality of the unit itself feels solid, it doesn't feel flimsy or cheap. As for usability, it's very easy to operate. Just load it up, close the lid, and press the button. It does a great job with most kitchen scraps, turning them into a dry, soil-like material. It's not completely silent, but the noise level is totally acceptable, mostly a low hum. It definitely helps with reducing our food waste volume, which was my main goal.

Easy to use, works well

Got the FoodCycler Maestro. It's simple to operate. Put scraps in, push button. It dries and grinds them up. Less trash now. Happy with the purchase.

Helped with our food waste

So I finally caved and bought one of these, the FoodCycler Eco 5. My friend kept bugging me about how much food waste we make. It actually works pretty well! I just toss in whatever's left from dinner and it turns it into this dry stuff. It does take a few hours, but I usually run it overnight. It's definitely a lot less smelly than our old compost bin outside. Made a noticeable difference in how much we throw out.

FC-30 review, delivery, and support

I ordered the FoodCycler FC-30 about a month ago. The website was easy enough to navigate, though I missed a first-order discount code at checkout. My mistake. Delivery took exactly 8 days, which felt a bit long but it arrived well-packaged. Setting it up was straightforward; the instructions were clear. The unit itself is quieter than I expected during operation, which is a big plus. I've been processing vegetable scraps and coffee grounds daily. The 'Foodilizer' it produces is great for my small garden. I had a question about filter replacement frequency and contacted their support through email. They responded in less than 24 hours with a helpful answer. Quality seems good so far, sturdy build. It's definitely making a dent in our household waste. The bucket is also easy to clean, just a quick rinse.

Consistent performance as always

This is my third purchase from FoodCycler. I initially got an Eco 3 a while back, then some replacement filters, and this time a Kitchen Compost Bin. Every order has been pretty smooth. The bin is sturdy and fits well on the counter, just like their other products consistently perform. Shipping took about a week to get here, which is standard for them. Good to see the quality hasn't dropped. It's why I keep coming back when I need something for my kitchen waste.

Easy to use, less garbage

So, I finally got around to getting one of those FoodCycler things, the Maestro model. My friend had one and kept raving. It's actually pretty cool. Just put in your leftovers and boom, it's tiny little soil stuff. My garbage can smells way less, which is a HUGE plus for me. Delivery took 5 days to reach Denver, which was fine. Pretty happy with it overall, makes kitchen clean up less gross.

I'm confused about the difference between the FoodCycler Eco 3 and Eco 5. Is it just capacity, or are there other features?

D DivyaL 4 days ago ✓ Best Answer
Mostly capacity. Eco 5 has a larger bucket (5L vs 3L), so you can process more waste at once. The cycle times are pretty similar, and they both use the same basic technology. If you have a larger family or generate a lot of food waste, the 5 is probably worth it.

A AnjaliR 4 days ago
I have the Eco 3 for two people and I sometimes wish I had the 5, especially after cooking a big meal.
7
K KiranV 4 days ago
Okay, so no major tech differences then. Good to know. We're a family of four, so 3L might be too small.
0
S SandeepM 4 days ago
Yeah, it's mainly the size. The Eco 5 is also a bit more powerful motor-wise to handle the extra volume, but for everyday use, both are pretty quiet.

S SandeepM 4 days ago
About as loud as a quiet dishwasher or a humming fridge. You can hear it, but it's not intrusive. Definitely quieter than a garbage disposal.

K KiranV 4 days ago
How loud are they actually? I've read reviews, but personal experience helps.

Looking for FoodCycler replacement carbon filter coupons. Anyone seen any active ones recently? Seems like they never have discounts for just the filters.

G GamerRaj 2 weeks ago ✓ Best Answer
I bought the refillable filter cartridges a while back. They're more expensive upfront, but then you just buy the carbon pellets in bulk. Saves money in the long run if you're planning to keep the FoodCycler for a while.

M MeeraD 2 weeks ago
Oh, I didn't even know they had refillable ones! That's a game-changer. Is it easy to refill them?
3
G GamerRaj 2 weeks ago
Super easy. Just open them up, dump the old, pour in the new pellets. Takes like 2 minutes.

A AkashP 2 weeks ago
I usually just wait for their seasonal sales, sometimes they'll include accessory bundles or filter discounts. Also, if you sign up for their newsletter, you might get a first-order discount, though I'm not sure if that applies to just filters.
7
M MeeraD 2 weeks ago
Yeah, I'm on the newsletter already. Haven't seen anything specific for filters in a while. It's always for the main unit.

N NikhilS 2 weeks ago
Same here. I wish they had a subscription option for filters with a small discount.

My FoodCycler Maestro just stopped working mid-cycle. The light is blinking red and it won't restart. Anyone had this issue?

P PriyaM 1 week ago ✓ Best Answer
I had a similar thing with my Eco 5 once. It was actually the filter caps not being seated properly. Made it think something was wrong. Check those first, make sure they're clicked all the way in.
8
P PriyaM 1 week ago
Yeah, little things like that can throw it off. Hope it's an easy fix!
8
S SunitaJ 1 week ago
Thanks, I'll check that. Didn't even think of the filter caps.
0
V VikramT 1 week ago
Hmm, blinking red usually means an error code. Check your manual, it should tell you what that specific blink pattern means. Could be anything from overloaded to overheating.
9
S SunitaJ 1 week ago
I checked, it's supposed to be an overload, but the bucket wasn't even full. Maybe a sensor issue?
0
V VikramT 1 week ago
Could be. Try unplugging it for 15-20 mins and plugging it back in. Sometimes a hard reset fixes weird sensor glitches.

Just got the FoodCycler Eco 5! First cycle running now. Anyone have tips for what works best or what to avoid?

R RahulK 1 month ago ✓ Best Answer
Congrats! For me, no large bones at all, even if they say small ones are okay. Also, cut up really fibrous stuff like celery or corn cobs into smaller pieces, makes a big difference in how well it processes.

A AmitM 1 month ago
Good call on the bones. I tried a chicken leg bone once and it sounded like a rock tumbler in there.

S Sneha22 1 month ago
Yeah, I learned that the hard way with pineapple skin. Chopping helps a lot.

D Deepak91 1 month ago
Oh, and make sure you're not overfilling it. There's a max line for a reason. And don't forget to clean the bucket regularly, even if it's dishwasher safe. Prevents smells building up.
12
C coolboy88 1 month ago
Mine goes in the dishwasher all the time, no issues so far. Been using it for like 6 months.

P PoojaR 1 month ago
Is the bucket really dishwasher safe? I've been handwashing mine because I was worried about the coating.

Thinking of upgrading from my old compost bin to a FoodCycler, but the price point is making me hesitate. Is it really worth the investment?

R RajeshG 4 weeks ago ✓ Best Answer
Honestly, yes, for me it was. I got the Eco 3 last year during a holiday sale. The biggest benefit is no smell and it reduces volume so much. My traditional compost was always a struggle with fruit flies.
11
R RajeshG 4 weeks ago
Pretty much. As long as you change the filters when you're supposed to, it's odor-free. And no pests because it's a sealed unit.
5
A AnanyaS 4 weeks ago
That's my main concern too, the smell and pests. Does it really eliminate both completely?
7
V Varun83 4 weeks ago
It depends on your expectations. It's not 'compost' in the traditional sense, more like a soil amendment. But it definitely diverts a ton of waste from landfill. I got a refurbished unit during a Black Friday deal and saved a good chunk.
1
T techfreak 4 weeks ago
Refurbished unit, interesting! Was it good quality or did you have issues?
7
V Varun83 4 weeks ago
Mine was like new, no problems at all. Just came in a plain box.
